Brook Drive rents cars in Dubai with no security deposit: no cash deposit and no card hold, for rentals of any length. This guide explains how deposits are regulated in Dubai, what is billed separately instead, and what to check before you sign.
How deposits work in Dubai
What a deposit is for
A security deposit is money a rental company holds against costs that may surface during or after the rental, such as traffic fines, Salik tolls, damage and fuel discrepancies. Gulf News states that the amount is not standardised: it varies by company and by vehicle type, and no published source sets a typical figure for the Dubai market.
The 2024 deposit regulation
There is a regulator behind deposits. In March 2024, the Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade, which operates under the Department of Economy and Tourism, issued Circular No. (1) of 2024 covering security deposits at car rental offices. As Khaleej Times reported, the circular requires every rental office in Dubai to release a deposit within 30 days of the vehicle being returned, provided there are no outstanding charges. It also states that a rental office may never process a card security hold as an outright charge on the card, that renters without a credit card must be allowed to pay the deposit in cash or by debit card and be refunded by cash or bank transfer at the company’s cost, and that no surcharge may be charged simply for paying by card.
Thirty days is a maximum, not a promise of speed. Fines can be registered against a vehicle some time after the return, which is why a deposit that is held back can feel as if it has vanished, even when nothing was technically wrong.
Helpful tipBefore you pay anything, ask the company one direct question: is this amount being blocked on my card, or is it being charged? Under Circular No. (1) of 2024, a rental office is not allowed to process a security hold as an outright charge.

What no deposit means at Brook Drive
Included insurance and the excess
At Brook Drive, none of the steps above happen. There is no cash deposit, no credit-card hold, no pre-authorisation and no blocked funds. Basic insurance is included in the daily rate, so you are covered from the moment you drive off.
That insurance carries an excess, the amount the renter would be liable for if at fault in an incident. The exact figure depends on the model and is fixed in the rental agreement; it is confirmed by the Brook Drive team when you book, and it is not published here because it varies car by car. If you are not at fault, you pay nothing. Extended insurance is also available, again at a price the team quotes at booking rather than a fixed public figure.
What gets billed separately
What is not included in the daily rate is billed separately, after the rental, rather than blocked in advance: Salik toll charges, Darb toll charges if you drive into Abu Dhabi, fuel on a full-to-full basis, traffic fines that come through after you return the car, and any mileage above that specific car’s daily limit, which runs from 200 to 250 kilometres a day depending on the model and is shown on the car’s own page. Delivery has its own pricing, covered in the section on getting the car below. None of this changes the core fact: nothing is blocked on your card while you are driving.
| What happens | Dubai rules (Circular No. 1 of 2024) | Brook Drive, no deposit |
|---|---|---|
| Money on your card at pickup | A deposit may be held on a card, but never processed as a purchase | Nothing is blocked at all |
| If you have no credit card | Cash or debit accepted; the company pays the transfer fee on the refund | No deposit is collected in any form |
| When you get your money back | Released within 30 days of the return if there are no outstanding charges | Nothing to release, because nothing was taken |
| Surcharge for paying by card | Banned | Not applicable, since there is no deposit transaction to surcharge |
| If you are at fault for damage | Actual damage costs may be deducted from the deposit | The insurance excess applies, fixed in your contract and confirmed at booking |
Paying without a credit card
Brook Drive accepts cash, cards, cryptocurrency and other methods. A credit card is not required to rent from us, because we do not need a card to block funds against in the first place. If you are travelling with only a debit card or you prefer to pay in cash, that is not a problem here.
What to check before you sign a no deposit offer
Questions to ask any rental company
«No deposit» is a genuine reassurance, but it is worth asking any company, including us, a short set of questions before you sign anything:
- Is a card hold taken anyway, «just in case»? A genuine no-deposit policy means nothing is blocked, full stop.
- What is the insurance excess, and where is it written down? It should be a specific figure in your contract, not a verbal promise, and the company should be able to point to the clause.
- When and how are tolls and fines billed? The answer should be clear before you drive off, not after the return.
- What is the mileage limit, and where is it shown? It should be listed on the specific car’s page, not buried in a company-wide FAQ.
- What is the fuel policy? Full-to-full, where you collect the car full and return it full, is the clearest. Be wary of vague per-litre «shortfall» language.
- What are the cancellation and late-return terms? These are the two situations most likely to produce a surprise charge, whether or not a deposit was ever involved. Ask the Brook Drive team before you book.
Tolls: Salik and Darb
Salik currently charges AED 6.30 per crossing during peak hours (6am to 10am and 4pm to 8pm) and AED 4.20 off-peak (10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am), Monday to Saturday, with no charge between 1am and 6am. On Sundays a flat AED 4.20 applies. These figures include the 5 percent VAT that Khaleej Times reported was applied to Salik crossings from June 2026; the current schedule is on the official Salik website. Darb, the Abu Dhabi toll system, charges AED 4 per crossing from 7am to 9am and from 3pm to 7pm, and nothing on Sundays and official holidays. Its daily and monthly caps have been removed, so there is no ceiling on how much a heavy user of Abu Dhabi’s toll gates can be charged in a month.
Fines and black points
A traffic fine is registered against the vehicle rather than against you personally, so the rental company receives it first and the renter pays it afterwards. At Brook Drive, fines are forwarded to the renter and paid after the rental. In Dubai you can see whether a fine has been registered on the RTA traffic fines page. If a fine carries black points, moving them to the actual driver’s licence is something to raise with Dubai Police or the RTA, as a Khaleej Times legal column from June 2024 explains.
Mileage, fuel and damage
Each Brook Drive car has its own daily mileage limit, shown on the car’s page; extra kilometres are charged separately. Fuel is full-to-full. Any damage, including a scratch found on a parked car, needs a Police Report, and without one the insurance will not respond. In Dubai you can file it in the Dubai Police app (App Store, Google Play) or in DubaiNow.

Helpful tipPhotograph the odometer, the fuel gauge and every panel of the car at pickup and at drop-off. It costs nothing and it removes almost every argument about mileage, fuel or a scratch that was already there.

The affordable end of the fleet
Entry-level pricing at Brook Drive
The no-deposit rule applies at the cheapest end of the range as well. The entry point is the Fiat Abarth 595 at AED 470 a day for a 1 to 2 day rental, dropping to AED 300 a day once you book it for 30 days or more. Just above that sit several genuinely useful everyday cars: the Mini Cooper S Convertible at AED 590 a day, the Ford Mustang Convertible Black at AED 590 a day, the Audi Q3 Black at AED 660 a day, the Chevrolet Tahoe Black at AED 830 a day, the Hyundai Staria at AED 710 a day, the Mercedes C200 White at AED 720 a day, the Mercedes E300 Black at AED 830 a day, and the Nissan Patrol Super Safari at AED 830 a day. None of these cars needs a deposit.
The table below shows how the daily rate moves as the rental gets longer, with one representative car from each of the main classes. Rates for 3 to 7 and 8 to 29 days are on each car’s page.
| Class | Car | 1 to 2 days | 30+ days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | Fiat Abarth 595 | AED 470 | AED 300 |
| Family SUV | Audi Q3 Black | AED 660 | AED 400 |
| Sedan | Mercedes C200 White | AED 720 | AED 360 |
| Convertible | Mini Cooper S Convertible | AED 590 | AED 350 |
| Electric | Mercedes EQS 580 | AED 910 | AED 570 |
| Luxury SUV | Mercedes GLE450 Black | AED 1070 | AED 710 |
| Sports and supercar | BMW M4 Competition | AED 1 310 | AED 890 |

If the entry-level end of the range is what you came here for, the full selection of everyday cars is easiest to browse through our economy cars page.
VerdictThe no-deposit rule at Brook Drive is not a promotional hook reserved for the cheapest bookings. It applies from the Fiat Abarth 595 to the cars in the next section.

Luxury and supercar rentals with no deposit
The same policy applies at the top of the range. The Range Rover HSE Black rents from AED 1 910 a day, the Mercedes S450 from AED 2 150 a day, the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, a flat-six sports car rather than a V8, from AED 2 270 a day, and the Lamborghini Huracan in blue, powered by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10, from AED 3 590 a day. At the very top sits the Ferrari Purosangue, a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12. None of these cars carries a security deposit, a card hold or any pre-authorisation, just as with the Fiat Abarth 595 above. The excess still exists on every one of them, fixed in the contract and confirmed at booking, but there is nothing blocked on your card before you drive away.
To see what the Huracan is like on the road, here is a short independent review rather than footage of our own car.
Monthly rental with no deposit
How monthly savings work
Monthly renters are the group with the most to gain from a rental without a deposit, since holding thousands of dirhams on a card for weeks is exactly what a monthly booking would otherwise involve. The saving on the rate itself is real too, though it varies by car rather than following one fixed percentage.
Every car page shows four daily rates: for 1 to 2 days, 3 to 7 days, 8 to 29 days and 30 days or more. Brook Drive states that monthly rates can run up to 50 percent lower than the daily rate, and the real figure has to be read from the specific car. The Mercedes C200 White costs AED 720 a day for 1 to 2 days and AED 360 a day for 30 days or more, while the BMW 530 White costs AED 1190 and AED 770. Whichever car you choose, the no-deposit policy applies to a 30-day booking exactly as it does to a 1-day booking.

Helpful tipDo not assume a flat 50 percent saving on any car you like the look of. Check the 1 to 2 day rate and the 30+ day rate on that specific car’s page before you commit to a month.

Requirements to rent without a deposit
Age, experience and required documents
Age and driving experience requirements are set per car at Brook Drive, not by one company-wide grid, and they run from 21 to 25 years across the fleet. The Mini Cooper S Convertible and the Nissan Patrol Super Safari both ask for a minimum age of 21 with 3 years of experience. The Fiat Abarth 595, Audi Q3 Black, Chevrolet Tahoe Black and Mercedes E300 Black ask for age 23 with 3 years. The Lamborghini Huracan, the Mercedes C200 White, the BMW M4 Competition and the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS ask for age 25, with 3 to 5 years of experience depending on the car. Age and experience do not follow engine power in a simple way, so the reliable check is the individual car’s own page.
Tourists need a passport, their home-country driving licence and an International Driving Permit. UAE residents need a UAE driving licence and their Emirates ID, and UAE Pass may be accepted as well. Whatever the car, the minimum rental is one day; there is no hourly rental at Brook Drive.
Helpful tipDo not rely on a car’s horsepower figure to guess the age or experience requirement. Check the specific car’s page, since the pattern across the fleet is not consistent.

Getting the car in Dubai
The Brook Drive office is in JVC, at Square Tower, office 307, open 24/7, and handover typically takes about 20 minutes once your documents are checked. If you would rather not come to the office, delivery within Dubai is free for rentals from AED 10,000 and otherwise costs AED 185 between 09:00 and 21:00 or AED 290 between 21:00 and 09:00, plus 5 percent VAT. Delivery to Dubai International Airport starts from AED 250, which is useful for anyone flying in and wanting the car waiting at the terminal rather than making their own way across the city first.

No Deposit Car Rental in Dubai: FAQ
How does a car rental deposit work in Dubai?
Under Circular No. (1) of 2024 from the Dubai Corporation for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade, a deposit may be held on a card but never processed as a purchase, and it must be released within 30 days of the car being returned if there are no outstanding charges. The amount itself varies by company and vehicle type.
Is there really no deposit at Brook Drive, even for supercars?
Yes. Brook Drive rents with no cash deposit, no card hold and no pre-authorisation, from the Fiat Abarth 595 to the Ferrari Purosangue, for rentals of any length.
What is charged instead of a deposit?
Salik and Darb toll charges, fuel on a full-to-full basis, traffic fines forwarded after the rental, and mileage above the specific car’s daily limit are all billed separately rather than deducted from a deposit, because there is no deposit to deduct from. The insurance excess, fixed in your contract, still applies if you are at fault in an incident.
Do I need a credit card to rent a car without a deposit?
No. Brook Drive accepts cash, cards and cryptocurrency, and a credit card is not required, because there are no funds to block against in the first place.
What documents do I need to rent a car in Dubai?
Tourists need a passport, their home-country driving licence and an International Driving Permit. UAE residents need a UAE driving licence and Emirates ID, and UAE Pass may be accepted.
What is the minimum rental period?
One day. There is no hourly rental at Brook Drive, whichever car you choose.
How are Salik, Darb and traffic fines settled?
Salik currently costs AED 6.30 per crossing at peak hours and AED 4.20 off-peak, including VAT applied from June 2026. Darb charges AED 4 per crossing in its own morning and evening windows and has no daily or monthly cap. Salik and Darb are billed to the renter after the rental ends. Fines are forwarded to the renter and paid after the rental; none of these are deducted from a deposit, since Brook Drive does not hold one.
What happens if the car is damaged during the rental?
Any damage, even a scratch discovered while the car was parked and unattended, requires a Police Report, since the insurance will not respond without one. If you were not at fault, you pay nothing; if you were, the fixed insurance excess in your contract applies.
Can I get a monthly rental with no deposit?
Yes, the no-deposit policy applies to a 30-day rental exactly as it does to a 1-day rental. Monthly rates can run up to 50 percent lower than the short-term daily rate, though the exact saving depends on the car.
What if a deposit is not returned within 30 days by another company?
You can contact the rental company directly, dispute the charge with your bank if the money was charged rather than blocked, or file a complaint with Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism through consumerrights.gov.ae or the hotline +971 600 545555. This route applies only to Dubai-licensed companies.
