UAE petrol (gasoline) and diesel prices change every month. This guide gives the price list for each grade, shows what a full tank costs in a rental car, and explains how full-to-full fuel works at Brook Drive.
How much does petrol cost in Dubai?
The UAE Fuel Price Committee, chaired by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, reviews pump prices every month. The table shows the prices for October 2026 and, for comparison, September 2026, as reported by Khaleej Times and Gulf News. How the committee works is explained on the UAE government portal.
| Grade | October 2026 | September 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Super 98 | 4.40 | 3.80 | +0.60 |
| Special 95 | 4.28 | 3.69 | +0.59 |
| E-Plus 91 | 4.21 | 3.61 | +0.60 |
| Diesel | 4.80 | 4.30 | +0.50 |
October 2026 brought a rise of roughly 16% on September. Khaleej Times’ report on the October prices points to the regional war, the end of the 60-day US-Iran ceasefire and stepped-up attacks on oil infrastructure in the Red Sea as background. The price has nothing to do with any single petrol station or rental company: it is the same at every brand in every emirate.
Helpful tipPrices change once a month, on the first. Unless your rental runs into a new month, what you pay at the pump on day one is what you will pay on the last day.

How the UAE sets fuel prices every month
Since the UAE deregulated fuel in August 2015, pump prices haven’t tracked the daily price of crude oil. Instead, the Fuel Price Committee announces a new price on the last day of every month, effective from the first of the next one. The formula is based on a lagged average of international refined-product prices (petrol and diesel themselves, not crude) plus the real costs of refining, distribution, storage and retail margin. The mechanism is also described by The National.
That lag is why a bad month for oil prices doesn’t show up at the pump immediately, and why the one change a month is usually smaller than the swings on the oil market itself. It also means the price is the same whether you fill up at a station in Downtown Dubai or one off the highway near Al Ain, so there is no regional variation to shop around for.
For anyone budgeting a longer stay, that monthly rhythm is useful: the price you see on day one of a two- or three-week rental is the price you’ll pay for the whole trip, unless you cross from the last day of one month into the first of the next. October 2026’s rise was the steepest in months, but Super 98 is still below its record of AED 4.63 from July 2022, during the global energy-price spike that followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Petrol grades explained: 95, 98, E-Plus and diesel
UAE stations sell four grades, and the names are the octane rating in disguise:
- E-Plus 91: the entry-level unleaded grade, octane rating 91, mainly used in older or very basic engines.
- Special 95: the standard mid-grade, octane rating 95, what most ordinary petrol cars and SUVs are designed to run on.
- Super 98: premium unleaded, octane rating 98, specified for high-compression, turbocharged and high-performance engines.
- Diesel: a separate fuel, used by diesel SUVs and commercial vehicles and priced independently of the three petrol grades.
Many family cars and SUVs run on Special 95, while performance and turbocharged models are usually built for Super 98. A lower grade than the engine is designed for can cause knocking and cost you performance, so use the grade shown on the fuel filler door.
Helpful tipNot sure which grade your rental needs? It’s on the fuel filler door of the car, and your pickup paperwork will confirm it. If in doubt, ask your manager before you leave our office.

What a full tank costs in our fleet
Every Brook Drive rental is full-to-full: you collect the car with a full tank and return it full, so fuel is never part of the daily rate. To make that concrete, here are the tank sizes of three very different cars from our fleet.
| Car | Tank | Fuel grade | Rate per day (1–2 days) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Cooper S Convertible | 44 L | Super 98 | AED 590 |
| Chevrolet Tahoe | 91 L | Special 95 | AED 830 |
| Lamborghini Huracán | 83 L | Super 98 | AED 3 590 |
At October 2026 prices, filling the Tahoe’s 91-litre tank with Special 95 at AED 4.28 a litre costs about AED 470.

VerdictThe full-size American SUV has a bigger tank than the V10 supercar: 91 litres against 83. Fuel price is the same for every renter; what changes the bill is tank size, the grade and how far you drive, not which badge is on the bonnet.

Our fuel policy: full-to-full, no hidden charges
We hand every car over with a full tank, and the rental agreement asks for it back the same way. Return the car with a full tank, as at pickup. If you genuinely can’t refuel before drop-off, such as after a late flight or a detour that didn’t work out, tell your manager before you hand the car back and they will explain how the rental agreement handles the missing fuel. The simplest option is always the obvious one: fill up yourself on the way back, the same way you’d return a friend’s car.
This is also a good moment to separate fuel from the other running costs you’ll see on a UAE rental. Salik (Dubai’s toll gates) and Darb (Abu Dhabi’s) are billed to you separately after your rental ends, and traffic fines are forwarded to you in the same way. None of that is fuel.
How to refuel at a Dubai petrol station
At most UAE stations an attendant fuels the car for you. Just tell them the grade (Special 95, Super 98, E-Plus 91 or diesel) and whether you want a full tank or a fixed amount. Stations are everywhere across Dubai, on every major road and inside most residential communities, so finding one is never the problem; getting the right grade is the only thing worth double-checking. The UAE government portal links to the station finders of ADNOC, ENOC, Emarat and other operators.
Ways to spend less on fuel during your rental
Fuel is priced the same everywhere, so the only real levers are the car and how you drive it:
- Match the car to the trip. A compact or mid-size car from our economy cars range will always cost less to fill than an SUV or a V8, simply because the tank is smaller.
- Rent longer if you’re staying longer. It won’t change the price of fuel, but a weekly or monthly rate brings the daily cost of the car itself down.
- Use our delivery instead of driving to collect the car. Delivery is free from AED 10,000 in rental value, or a flat delivery fee otherwise. Either way it saves you a trip across town to our office and back.

FAQ: fuel prices in Dubai
What are the petrol and diesel prices in the UAE?
In October 2026, Super 98 costs AED 4.40 a litre, Special 95 AED 4.28, E-Plus 91 AED 4.21 and diesel AED 4.80. The UAE Fuel Price Committee announces new prices at the end of each month, and the price is the same at every station and brand across the UAE.
Do I need Special 95 or Super 98 for my rental car?
Check the fuel filler door of the car, or ask your manager at pickup. Many family cars and SUVs run on Special 95; turbocharged and high-performance models are usually built for Super 98.
What happens if I don’t return the rental car with a full tank?
Return the car with a full tank, as at pickup. If you can’t refuel before drop-off, tell your manager before you hand the car back and they will explain how the rental agreement handles the missing fuel. It’s always simpler to fill up yourself before you return it.
How are fuel, Salik and Darb handled on a Brook Drive rental?
Every rental is full-to-full: you collect the car with a full tank and return it full, so fuel is not part of the daily rate. Salik and Darb toll charges are billed to you separately after the rental ends, and traffic fines are forwarded to you in the same way.
Why did UAE fuel prices rise in October 2026?
The Fuel Price Committee’s monthly formula follows a lagged average of international refined-product prices. Khaleej Times’ report on the October prices cites the regional war, the end of the 60-day US-Iran ceasefire and stepped-up attacks on oil infrastructure in the Red Sea as background. It was a market-wide move, not a local or company-specific decision.
Will my daily rental rate change if fuel prices rise mid-rental?
No. Fuel is not part of the daily rental rate, so a change in the pump price does not affect it. Only the fuel you pump in yourself moves with the monthly announcement.
Is diesel available in Brook Drive’s rental fleet?
No. Our current fleet is petrol, electric and hybrid only, and the petrol models run on Special 95 or Super 98 depending on the car. The diesel price above is general UAE pricing information, not a fuel you’ll need for any car we currently rent out.
