To rent a car in Dubai you need a passport, a valid driving licence from your home country (an International Driving Permit may also be required, depending on where the licence was issued) and to meet the age and experience limit of the car you choose, from 21 to 25 years. Brook Drive rents with no deposit, the basic insurance is already in the daily rate, and handover takes about 20 minutes. This guide walks through the five steps from eligibility to returning the keys.
Rental requirements at a glance
Brook Drive sets the minimum age and driving experience per car, not per category: the figures sit on each car’s page and in the tables below. As a rule, the more powerful the car, the higher the bar.
| Parameter | Everyday cars and SUVs | Luxury and sports cars |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum age | 21 to 23 years (Mazda 6, Chevrolet Tahoe, BMW 420 Convertible) | 25 years for most (Ferrari F8, Lamborghini Huracán, Rolls-Royce Cullinan), a few from 23 |
| Driving experience | 3 years on the cars listed here | 3 to 5 years, set per car |
| Tourists | Passport and home-country licence; an International Driving Permit (IDP) may also be required | Passport and home-country licence; an International Driving Permit (IDP) may also be required |
| UAE residents | UAE licence and Emirates ID | UAE licence and Emirates ID |
Step 1: Age limits and driving experience
Brook Drive sets the age and experience limits for every car to match its power, and the insurance depends on them. You will see both numbers on the car’s page before you book.
How the limits work
- 21 years for everyday cars: the Mazda 6, the BMW 420 Convertible and some Chevrolet Tahoe cars (White and RST) accept drivers from 21 with 3 years behind the wheel.
- 23 years for the Nissan Patrol Platinum, the Ford Mustang Convertible, the Audi Q3 and the other Chevrolet Tahoe cars (Black and Beige).
- 25 years for the Cadillac Escalade, the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Boxster GTS, the Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder, the Ferrari F8 Spider and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, with 3 to 5 years of licence history depending on the car.
If you are under 25, filter the catalogue by what you are allowed to drive rather than falling in love with a car first.
Helpful tipExperience is counted from the date your licence was issued. If you passed your test recently, check the experience figure on the car’s page first, because it is often the limit you hit before the age.

Step 2: Documents and driving licence
What you need depends on whether you are visiting or living in the UAE. Having everything ready avoids a delay at handover.
For tourists
- Passport with an entry stamp or visa.
- Valid driving licence from your home country.
- International Driving Permit (IDP) where it applies. Depending on the country that issued your licence, an IDP may also be required, and it is carried together with the original licence: it supplements the licence, it does not replace it.
Our team confirms what applies to your licence before you book, so message us on WhatsApp if you are not sure. The UAE also publishes official guidance on driving licences for visitors and residents.
For UAE residents
- UAE driving licence.
- Emirates ID (a UAE Pass may be accepted).
Residents with a UAE licence do not need an IDP.
Step 3: Choose the car and understand the price
The fleet runs from economy cars to exotics, and the rate depends on how many days you take the car. A longer rental lowers the daily price, so read the whole price ladder before you choose.
Everyday cars and SUVs
For city driving and family trips, start with our economy cars, which begin at AED 470 a day, and our SUV’s for space and comfort.
| Model | Class | Price per day | Age / experience |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mazda 6 | Family sedan | AED 770 | 21 / 3 years |
| Chevrolet Tahoe | Full-size SUV | AED 830 | 21 / 3 years (White, RST) |
| Nissan Patrol Platinum | Premium SUV | AED 1070 | 23 / 3 years |
| Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum | Luxury SUV | AED 1190 | 25 / 3 years |

The Chevrolet Tahoe is a good example of what an SUV rental is for: seven seats and a large boot for airport transfers, family days out and luggage-heavy trips.
Sports and luxury cars
If the trip is about the car itself, our sport cars and the luxury cars on the main page are where to look. Most of them need a driver aged 25 or over, but a few start at 23, so check the limit on the car’s page.
| Model | Price per day | Age / experience |
|---|---|---|
| Porsche Boxster GTS | AED 2 390 | 25 / 5 years |
| Porsche 911 Turbo S | AED 2 630 | 25 / 3 to 5 years |
| Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder | AED 3 590 | 25 / 3 to 5 years |
| Ferrari F8 Spider | AED 3 710 | 25 / 3 to 5 years |
| Rolls Royce Cullinan Black | AED 4 190 | 25 / 5 years |
Convertibles for the cool months
Dubai’s open-top season runs from roughly November to March, when daytime highs sit in the mid-20s to low 30s °C. Our convertible cars include the Ford Mustang Convertible at AED 590 a day, the BMW 4 series 420 Convertible at AED 770 and the Lamborghini Huracán EVO Spyder at AED 3 590.
Longer rentals cost less per day
Rates fall as the rental gets longer, in four steps: 1 to 2 days, 3 to 7 days, 8 to 29 days and 30 days or more. At 30 days or more the Audi Q3 drops from AED 660 to AED 400 a day, and the Mercedes C200 from AED 720 to AED 360. For long-term rentals the saving can reach 50% of the daily rate.
Prices on the site apply to rentals starting within the next 30 days, and seasonal rates may apply to later dates. Current offers are in the Special Offer section, and the manager confirms the exact price for your dates.
Helpful tipCheck the price for your exact number of days on the car’s page before comparing models. A car that looks expensive at 1 to 2 days can be cheaper per day than a smaller one if you keep it for a week.

Step 4: Extra costs, tolls, parking and insurance
Beyond the daily rate there are a few charges that depend on how you drive. None of them are hidden in the contract.
Salik and Darb tolls
Since June 2026 Dubai’s Salik gates charge AED 6.30 per crossing at peak times (Monday to Saturday, 06:00 to 10:00 and 16:00 to 20:00) and AED 4.20 off-peak and on Sundays, VAT included. Abu Dhabi’s Darb gates charge AED 4 per crossing, in the 07:00 to 09:00 and 15:00 to 19:00 windows, except that the Ghantoot and Al Qurm gates work round the clock. Salik and Darb are paid by the renter separately from the rental fee, and Brook Drive bills them after the rental ends, together with any traffic fines. Common Salik gates are on Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Maktoum Bridge, Al Garhoud Bridge and Al Mamzar. Current tariffs and gate locations are on the official Salik website, and the Darb rules are on the Abu Dhabi Mobility Darb page.
Parking
Dubai parking is paid by zone and by hour, from about AED 2.10 to AED 6.30 an hour depending on the zone and the time of day. Standard roadside parking is free on Sundays and public holidays, and in most zones between 22:00 and 08:00. You pay with the Parkin app, by SMS or WhatsApp, or at the machine with a nol card (the machines no longer take cash). Zones and payment options are on the Parkin website.
Fuel and mileage
Fuel is full-to-full: the car is handed over with a full tank and comes back full. Each car also has its own daily mileage limit of 200 to 250 km, shown on its page; extra kilometres are charged separately.
Insurance
Basic insurance is included in the daily rate. Extended insurance is also available; ask the manager for the terms for your car. The excess and what the cover excludes are set out in your rental agreement. Any damage must be backed by a police report.
Brook Drive rents with no deposit and no hidden payments.

Step 5: Booking, pickup and return
1. Book the car
Pick your dates and car on the website, or write to the team on WhatsApp or Telegram. Support runs 24/7. The manager confirms the booking, prepares the documents, goes through any extra options with you and takes the payment.
2. Pick up or have it delivered
Collect the car from the office or have it delivered. Delivery inside Dubai is free on orders from AED 10,000; below that it is AED 185 between 09:00 and 21:00 and AED 290 between 21:00 and 09:00, plus 5% VAT. Delivery to Dubai airport (DXB) starts from AED 250. At handover you show your passport and licence (and the IDP if it applies to you), sign the contract, and walk around the car with the manager to note its condition. The whole process takes about 20 minutes.

3. Return the car
Bring the car back to the agreed place with a full tank. The manager checks the body, interior and fuel level against the condition report from handover. Salik, Darb and any fines are billed afterwards. You can pay by cash, card or cryptocurrency.
If your plans change, tell the manager as early as you can. Cancellation, extension and return terms are set out in your rental agreement.
Helpful tipBefore you drive off, take a few photos of every side of the car and the wheels, and make sure any existing marks are written in the condition report.

Driving rules and what to do after an accident
Rules that matter most
- Speed: limits differ by road: most city roads are 40 to 80 km/h and highways go up to 120 km/h, so follow the signs (see the Dubai Police speed limits page). Cameras are everywhere and fines run from AED 300 up to AED 3,000 for serious excess.
- Seatbelts: everyone must buckle up. The fine is AED 400 and 4 black points.
- Phone: using a handheld phone while driving costs AED 960 and 4 black points.
- Red light: AED 1,200, 12 black points and 30 days of impoundment. If the car is impounded because of a violation during the rental, the release fee and related costs are the renter’s responsibility under the rental agreement (see the terms and conditions).
- Alcohol: there is zero tolerance, which means arrest and impoundment.
Fines are linked to the car’s licence plate and forwarded to you, and you pay them after the rental. You can look up a Dubai fine on the RTA fines page, and the full list of violations and black points is on the Dubai Police website.
If you have an accident
- Switch on the hazard lights and check for injuries. If anyone is hurt call 998 for an ambulance.
- For a serious accident call the police on 999. For a minor collision with no injuries call 901 or report it in the Dubai Police app (App Store, Google Play) or in DubaiNow.
- Get a police report. Any damage to the car needs one.
- Do not admit fault. Let the police decide who is responsible.
- Call Brook Drive straight away on +971 58 642 7299. If the car cannot continue, we take it and give you another one.
VerdictRenting in Dubai is simple when you check three things first: the age and experience limit of the exact car, the documents that apply to your licence, and the real price for your number of days. Everything else, from Salik to the return, is predictable.
