Pay a Dubai traffic fine on the Dubai Police or RTA website or app. Online payment needs a UAE or GCC card, so visitors often pay at a service centre, or after the rental on a Brook Drive car.
A fine is registered against the car’s plate, so it can appear days or weeks after the violation. This guide shows where to check a fine, how to pay it, what changes when the car is a rental, and what happens if a fine stays open.
How to Check a Traffic Fine in Dubai
Start with the plate number of the car you drove. The official services also search by driving licence, traffic file (T.C.) number or fine number.
- Open Fines Inquiry and Payment on the Dubai Police website, or use the Dubai Police app for iPhone or Android.
- Sign in with UAE Pass, or choose Continue as Guest. A guest can search without an account.
- Search by plate number, driving licence or traffic code.
- Read the list of fines with the amount and details of each one.
Check the RTA too. Its public fines search needs no sign-in, and the RTA Dubai app is on iPhone and Android. Parking fines come from Parkin and are listed on its fines page.
There is no official timeframe for a fine to show up. Camera fines can arrive with a delay of several days or weeks, so check once before you return the car and again after the rental ends.
How to Pay a Traffic Fine in Dubai
- Find the fine by plate, licence or traffic code.
- Select the fines you want to settle and check the plate and the amount.
- Pay by card or Apple Pay online, or pay at a service point.
- Keep the receipt. The RTA sends it by email.
| Channel | Fines | Extra fee | How to pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai Police website and app | Police fines (cameras, red light, phone) | AED 10 + AED 10 per violation | Debit or credit card, Apple Pay; UAE and GCC cards only |
| Dubai Police service centres, Smart Police Stations | Police fines | As shown on the fine | Cash or debit card, Smart Police Stations are open 24/7 |
| RTA website, app, self-service machines | Fines the RTA can take, including parking | AED 20 per fine | Online or at a machine |
| Parkin | Parking fines | See the Parkin fines table | Online, by card |
Foreign cards. Dubai Police accepts online payments only from within the UAE and GCC, and cards issued outside those countries are not accepted. A visitor with a foreign card usually pays a police fine at a service centre or Smart Police Station with cash or a debit card.
Before you leave. Close open fines before your flight and keep the receipt. The call centre of Dubai Police is on 901.
Helpful tipIf you think a police fine is wrong, ask for a review before you pay. Dubai Police has a Violation Review service and a Violation Evidence Images service on the same page as payment.

Paying a Fine on a Rental Car
The plate belongs to the rental company, so a fine on a rental car reaches the company first. What the renter owes is set by the rental agreement.
Brook Drive rents without a deposit. Fines are forwarded to the renter and paid after the rental. Salik and Darb tolls are billed to the renter separately after the rental ends. If the car is impounded because of a violation during the rental, the release fee and related costs are the renter’s responsibility under the rental terms.
You can look up a fine by plate yourself with the steps above. Tell the manager about any fine, ticket or warning as soon as you know of it, and ask about a specific fine on +971 58 642 7299.
Helpful tipDo not wait for the fine to reach you. Check the plate of your rental car before you hand it back, and again before your flight.

Instalments, Discounts and Scams
Instalments
Dubai Police offers interest-free instalments through partner banks. According to Gulf News (August 2026), the fines must total at least AED 3,000, the Emirates ID must belong to the registered owner of the vehicle, and plans run for 3, 6 or 12 months. You apply in Traffic Fines Inquiry and Payment, and the bank approves the plan. On a rental car the registered owner is the rental company, so a renter usually cannot use it. The RTA lets you split a payment into up to four parts with Tabby.
Discounts
Dubai Police and the RTA have no permanent early-payment discount. The 35% (first 60 days) and 25% (within a year) scheme belongs to Abu Dhabi Police and does not cover severe violations. For Dubai, use the amount shown on the official service.
Scams
In August 2025 Dubai Police arrested a group that offered fake fine discounts on social media and paid the fines with stolen cards. Pay only through the official websites, apps and service points.
What Happens If You Don’t Pay
Travel ban
A traffic fine is not by itself a ground for a travel ban. Gulf News (updated January 2026) says a ban can follow criminal violations such as drink driving or hit-and-run, or a civil debt of AED 12,000 or more that goes to court. Do not leave with open fines all the same: they stay on record against the plate and the driver.
Impounded car and registration
Under Dubai Decree No. 30 of 2023 a vehicle with unpaid fines above AED 6,000 can be impounded, and it is released after the fines are paid. The RTA also treats paying fines as a basic requirement for renewing a driving licence or vehicle registration (Mulkiya).
How to Avoid Fines in Dubai
Amounts and black points below come from the Dubai Police violations table.
- Know the limit. Dubai Police lists limits from 60 to 120 km/h, depending on the road. Many radars trigger a little above the limit, but that is a camera setting, not permission to speed.
- Keep to your lane. The left lane is for overtaking. Poor lane discipline in a light vehicle is an AED 480 fine, with no black points.
- Keep your phone down. A hand-held phone costs AED 960 and 4 black points.
- Buckle up. A driver or passenger without a seatbelt is AED 480 and 4 black points.
- Pay for parking. Read the zone sign and pay through the Parkin or RTA channels as soon as you park.
Black points go on the driver’s record. Dubai Police has a Black Points Transfer service that moves points from a vehicle’s record to a driver’s record. Visitors with a foreign licence can ask Dubai Police on 901 what can be checked.
VerdictMost rental fines come from speed, the phone and parking. Keep to the limit, keep the phone down and pay for parking as soon as you stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a tourist pay a Dubai fine with a foreign card?
Not online with Dubai Police, which accepts only UAE and GCC cards. Service centres and Smart Police Stations take cash or a debit card. With Brook Drive, fines are forwarded to the renter and paid after the rental.
Can I pay fines before leaving Dubai?
Yes. Pay online if you have a UAE or GCC card, or at a Dubai Police service centre or Smart Police Station, or through the RTA channels. Keep the receipt. The sources do not name payment points at the airport, so do not plan on one.
How do I check black points?
Black points are recorded on the driver, and the Dubai Police violations table shows how many each offence carries. Black Points Transfer moves points from a car’s record to a driver’s record. If you hold a foreign licence, ask Dubai Police on 901 what can be checked.
Can unpaid fines stop me leaving the UAE?
A traffic fine alone is not a ground for a travel ban. A ban can follow a criminal violation or a court-enforced civil debt of AED 12,000 or more. Close fines before your flight anyway.
Does Dubai have a fine discount for early payment?
There is no permanent discount from Dubai Police or the RTA. The 35% and 25% scheme is run by Abu Dhabi Police. Treat offers of a cheaper fine from unofficial sources as a scam.
