How to Check and Pay Traffic Fines in Dubai: Complete Guide

Check a Dubai traffic fine by car plate on the Dubai Police or RTA website or app. With Brook Drive there is no deposit: fines are forwarded to you and paid after the rental.

Many violations in Dubai are recorded by camera without stopping the driver, so a fine can appear after you have already moved on. This guide shows where to check a fine, how to pay it, how to dispute a wrong one and how fines work on a rental car.

5 Ways to Check Traffic Fines in Dubai

Every official channel below finds fines by the vehicle plate, so keep the plate number of your rental car at hand.

1. Dubai Police website and app

Police fines, such as speed camera and red light fines, come from Dubai Police. Its Fines Inquiry and Payment service finds fines registered against a vehicle plate, a driving licence or a traffic code. Use the website, or the Dubai Police app for iPhone and Android.

  1. Open Fines Inquiry and Payment on the website or in the app.
  2. Sign in with UAE Pass, or choose Continue as Guest.
  3. Search by plate number, driving licence or traffic code.
  4. Review the fines on the list, with the amount for each.

Each violation carries two extra fees of AED 10, a knowledge fee and an innovation fee. The digital channels run 24/7, and the call centre is on 901.

2. RTA website and RTA Dubai app

The RTA public fines search is a second place to look. The RTA’s Pay Vehicle Fines page asks for a fine number, plate details, a licence number or a traffic file number, or you can sign in with UAE Pass. The RTA Dubai app is on iPhone and Android.

The RTA adds a knowledge and innovation fee of AED 20 per fine. It can also take fines issued in other emirates, but only when they are payable in Dubai. Otherwise go to the authority that issued the fine.

3. Parkin, for parking fines

Parking fines come from Parkin, not from the police. Parkin’s fines page searches by plate details, licence number, traffic file number or fine number, and shows the full fine table. Typical amounts are AED 150 when no ticket is shown, AED 200 for a wrong or prohibited place, and AED 1,200 for evading payment or using a bay for People of Determination without a permit. Parking fines are also listed on the RTA’s Pay Public Parking Fines page.

4. DubaiNow app

The DubaiNow government services app can also show vehicle fines. Its sign-in is built around UAE Pass, so it suits residents better than tourists.

5. Ministry of Interior (MOI) website and app

The UAE government portal lists the Ministry of Interior website and the MOI UAE app, next to Dubai Police and the RTA, among the official platforms for checking and paying traffic fines. It is another place to look if you also drove in other emirates, such as Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.

Helpful tip

Check the plate of your rental car before you return it, and again after the rental ends. A violation can appear with a delay, so a clear screen on day one does not guarantee a clear record.

Fines on a Rental Car: What Tourists Should Know

Violations are registered against the car’s plate, so a fine on a rental car reaches the rental company first. What the renter owes the company is set by the rental agreement.

Brook Drive rents with no deposit. Fines are forwarded to the renter and paid after the rental. Salik and Darb tolls are billed to the renter separately after the rental ends. If the car is impounded because of a violation during the rental, the release fee and related costs are the renter’s responsibility under the rental terms.

Alex Shvarov
Helpful tip

You can look up a fine by plate number yourself. Tell Brook Drive about any fine, ticket or warning as soon as you know of it: the fine is forwarded to you, and you pay it after the rental.

What to do after a fine on a Brook Drive rental

  1. Tell Brook Drive about the fine as soon as you know of it.
  2. Check the plate of your rental car on Dubai Police and the RTA for police fines, and on Parkin for parking fines.
  3. If the recorded details look wrong, ask for a review or file a dispute before you pay (see the dispute section).
  4. Ask about a specific fine on +971 58 642 7299.
Where each charge on a rental car comes from

Dubai Traffic Fines and Black Points

The table shows common violations from the Dubai Police black points table, checked in October 2026. Black points go on the driver’s record, and the more serious violations also bring impoundment of the car.

Common Dubai traffic violations, fines and black points, October 2026
Violation Fine (AED) Black points Impound
Speeding up to 20 km/h over the limit 300 None None
Speeding up to 30 km/h over 600 None None

Some impounds also carry a separate release payment under Dubai Decree No. 30 of 2023, for example AED 60,000 for a red light. It is paid on top of the fine. Parking violations are not in this table, because Parkin issues them under its own fine table.

Alex Shvarov
Verdict

The heaviest of the regular penalties in the table is dangerous driving: AED 2,000, 23 black points and 60 days of impoundment. Keep to the limit, keep your phone down and keep a safe distance.

How to Pay Traffic Fines in Dubai

Official ways to pay

  • Dubai Police: in the app, on the website, through the call centre, and at service centres and Smart Police Stations. Online, Apple Pay and debit or credit cards work. At service centres and Smart Police Stations you can pay with cash or a debit card.
  • RTA: on the website, in the RTA Dubai app, through the Mahboub chatbot or at self-service machines. Customer Happiness Centre counters take fines only when you apply for another service there. The payment receipt comes by email.
  • Parkin: parking fines online, by card, using the fine number, plate number, licence or traffic file.

Tourists, note: Dubai Police accepts online payments only from within the UAE and GCC countries. Cards issued outside the UAE and GCC are not accepted online, so a visitor with a foreign card usually cannot settle a police fine on the website. With Brook Drive you do not normally pay Dubai Police yourself, because fines are forwarded to the renter and paid after the rental.

Instalments

Dubai Police lists a service for paying fines in monthly instalments by direct debit or credit card, subject to its terms. Read the terms on the service page before you plan around it.

Alex Shvarov
Helpful tip

Pay only through the official websites and apps named above, and check the plate and the amount on the screen before you confirm. Anyone who offers to cancel a fine for a fee is not an official channel.

How to Dispute a Wrong Traffic Fine

A fine can be wrong: the wrong plate, the wrong time, or a car that was not yours. Use the official route for the kind of fine you have.

  • Police fines: Dubai Police has a Violation Review service, a formal request to review the accuracy of the recorded details. The same service page has Violation Evidence Images, which shows the radar-captured images provided as evidence for a fine.
  • Parking fines: dispute the fine on Parkin’s fines page or in its app. It is free of charge, and Parkin reviews the dispute within 14 days. A successful dispute is refunded if you had already paid.

Useful proof is the rental agreement, which shows who had the car, the parking SMS or receipt, and photos of the signs and the bay. If the fine is on a Brook Drive rental, tell us about it before you pay or dispute.

Alex Shvarov
Helpful tip

Keep the evidence from the day itself: the parking SMS or receipt, photos of the signs, the time and place. Parkin asks for the required documents with a dispute.

Fine Discounts in Dubai

Dubai Police and the RTA announce fine discounts and amnesty campaigns from time to time. There is no standing discount to count on, so use the amount shown on the official service when you pay. Do not trust a promised percentage from an unofficial source.

Beware of offers of a «guaranteed fine cancellation». Use only Dubai Police, RTA, Parkin and other government channels for payments and for discount information.

Unpaid Fines and Leaving the UAE

Unpaid fines stay on record against the plate and the driver. A travel ban is decided by the emirate and by the court, so do not assume you can leave with fines open. The RTA also treats paying fines as a basic requirement for renewing a driving licence or vehicle ownership.

Check and close fines before departure. On a Brook Drive rental, fines can arrive after you return the car, so keep our number, +971 58 642 7299, and look at the plate once more before your flight.

How to Avoid Fines in a Rental Car

Most fines on a rental car come from a few habits. Amounts and black points are in the table above.

  • Obey the speed limits. Speeding even 20 km/h over the limit is an AED 360 fine.
  • Keep your phone down. A hand-held phone costs AED 800 and 4 black points. Use Bluetooth or pull over.
  • Wear a seatbelt, and make sure every passenger does.
  • Use child seats. Not providing a child car seat for a child under 4 is an AED 480 fine. Brook Drive provides child seats free of charge, and a spacious car from the SUV’s category has room for them.
  • Park only where it is allowed. Read the zone sign and pay as soon as you park.
  • Stop for pedestrians on a crossing, and keep a safe distance from the car ahead.
  • Use your lights and indicators. Driving at night without lights costs AED 600 and 4 black points.
  • Never drive under the influence. The court decides the fine, and the car is impounded for 60 days.

The same rules apply in every car, from economy cars to luxury cars and sport cars. Here are three classes from our fleet.

Example rental cars by class, price per day
Car Class 1–2 days 30+ days
Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder Sports AED 3 590 AED 2 510
Nissan Patrol White Platinum City SUV AED 1070 AED 650
Mazda 6 Dark Blue Economy sedan AED 770 AED 530

Cameras and patrols work the same whatever car you drive, so the habits above matter in every rental. If a fine does arrive, check it on the official service and tell Brook Drive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I check fines without an Emirates ID?

Yes. The Dubai Police service offers a Continue as Guest option next to UAE Pass sign-in. The RTA accepts a fine number, plate details, a licence number or a traffic file number as an alternative to UAE Pass.

How long does it take for a fine to appear?

There is no official timeframe. A fine can appear with a delay, so check the plate on Dubai Police, the RTA and Parkin before you return a rental car and again after the rental ends.

Can a tourist pay a fine with a foreign card?

Not online with Dubai Police. It accepts online payments only from within the UAE and GCC, and cards issued outside those countries are refused. Service centres and Smart Police Stations take cash or a debit card. With Brook Drive, fines are forwarded to the renter and paid after the rental.

What happens if I don’t pay a fine before leaving Dubai?

Unpaid fines stay on record, and a travel ban is decided by the emirate and the court. On a Brook Drive rental, fines are forwarded to you and paid after the rental, so tell us about any fine you receive and check the plate again before your flight.

Who gets the black points on a rental car?

Black points belong on the driver’s record, not on the car’s. Dubai Police has a Black Points Transfer service that moves points from a vehicle’s record to a driver’s record. On the RTA website, a person paying such a fine is asked whether they were driving, and if someone else was, that driver gets a notification and declares the points.

How are Salik and Darb tolls billed on a Brook Drive rental?

Salik and Darb tolls are billed to the renter separately after the rental ends. They are tolls rather than fines, and Brook Drive bills them separately from any fine.
